In Chapter 6 of Living Deliberately, Harry Palmer says:
I felt a universal self, and though it still slumbered, it was unified and whole. Beyond the dream theaters of consciousness, beyond the creations of time, space, form, and event, I experienced a total compassion and unconditional love for life. I could stay or return.
I feel this is an excellent foundation/requirement for interacting with others. Unless, by oneself, one has recognized the unity of all life, then community will be a prison as opposed to a launchpad.
Once one has that realization, one is free to take that "pregnant primordial awareness" in whatever the way they please:
- the path of the renunciate - aware and blissful with no involvement in the material realm
- the path of the magick user - manifestation for collective "good"
- the path of leela - infinite games
EXCEPT, the path of finite games - if someone's awareness is limited to the physical universe and they take the games here as serious and real, then they might not gel with the others. This means various constructive paths such as charity workers and environmentalists might not fit just as much as someone fixated on winning the Super Bowl.
